Found on the west side of Callender Lake, Hickory Hills is a family friendly, recreational centered, gated community of close to 600 property owners.  Hickory Hills shares the lake with another gated community on the east side of the lake.

Located on FM 2339 about five miles west of Edom, the drive to Hickory Hills is beautiful anytime of year whether coming from Edom, Murchison or Ben Wheeler.  Rolling hills sprinkled with sparkling lakes and mixed hardwood and evergreen trees make every trip to and from Hickory Hills enjoyable.

Callender Lake is a 365 acre private lake.  It is one of only a few constant level lakes in Texas, being fed by seven different streams and countless springs.

Because the lake is managed and stocked, there is excellent fishing.  Fishing is reserved for residents only and their guests.  Jet skis and water skiing are allowed; however, because of the lake's small size, large powerboats and boats that create large wakes are not recommended.

Hickory Hills also has a community swimming pool, boat ramp, fishing pier, a children's park with basketball court and playground, a swim beach with picnic area and two public bath houses.  In addition, there is a covered pavilion with kitchen for large events that may also be reserved for family functions.

As a bonus, there is Lake Hickory Hills, a 15 acre lake inside of Hickory Hills.  There is excellent fishing and no boats with gasoline motors attached are allowed on the lake.
