Welcome to Hickory Hills

Nestled on the west side of beautiful Callender Lake, Hickory Hills is a friendly, family-oriented, gated community home to nearly 600 property owners. Sharing the lake with one neighboring gated community on the east side, Hickory Hills offers a peaceful lakeside lifestyle in the heart of East Texas.

Located on FM 2339, just five miles west of Edom, the drive to Hickory Hills is a scenic delight year-round — whether you're arriving from Edom, Murchison, or Ben Wheeler. Rolling hills dotted with sparkling lakes and a rich mix of hardwood and evergreen trees create a picturesque journey that never gets old.

Callender Lake

At the center of it all is Callender Lake — a pristine, 365-acre private lake. One of the few constant-level lakes in Texas, it is fed by seven streams and countless natural springs, maintaining clear, stable water throughout the year.

Thanks to active management and regular stocking, Callender Lake offers excellent fishing, reserved exclusively for residents and their guests. Jet skis and water skiing are welcome, though the lake’s intimate size makes large powerboats and high-wake vessels unsuitable.

Community Amenities

Hickory Hills boasts outstanding recreational facilities for residents of all ages, including:

  • A community swimming pool
  • Boat ramp and fishing pier
  • Children’s park with playground and basketball court
  • Swim beach with picnic area
  • Two public bath houses
  • A large covered pavilion with kitchen, perfect for community events and family gatherings

Lake Hickory Hills

As an added bonus, residents also enjoy Lake Hickory Hills — a peaceful 15-acre lake located inside the community. This serene lake offers fantastic fishing, with no gasoline motors permitted.
